SERVANT CAMP – AUGUST 1ST–5TH


Do you have work around your house that needs to be taken care of?

Seniors within Oak Forest can submit an application for work to be done on their homes. Projects are limited to outdoor/exterior work only.  Adults will supervise and be responsible for using any power tools needed to complete the work. Sponsors, as they are called, are asked several qualifying questions which include, but aren’t limited to whether they have a space the work team can eat lunch and have devotions, whether they will provide water or drinks throughout the day, and whether they will join the team for their devotional time.

Please consider participating in our 2016 Servant camp for High School Youth by filling out a "Labors of Love Application".

YOUTH - RECRUITING  Applications for servant camp team members are available now.  Please share this opportunity with your friends at school who will need community service hours for high school.  Up to 40 hours can be accomplished!  Deadline for applications is July 20th.

SERVANT CAMP

August 1st - -5th, 2016

SERVANT CAMP 2016


Servant Camp begins on Monday Au-gust 1st and ends on Friday August 5th. Monday is set aside for training and team building.

Work days begin on Tuesday and end Friday. Each day begins at 8:00am with all youth meeting at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection for break-fast, simple worship and prayers, and to get their work assignments for the day.


Projects are limited to outdoor/exterior work only. Adults will supervise and be responsible for using any power tools needed to complete the work.

After each day of work, the youth and team leaders will return to the church for dinner and topic of the evening. The day will end at 5pm.


“Some of you will rebuild the deserted ruins of your cities. Then you will be known as a rebuilder of walls and a restorer of homes.” Isaiah 58:12


Youth are taught construction and landscaping skills (e.g. measuring, hammering, post hole digging, painting, minor concrete work, gardening work, re-pair of screens, etc.). After day one – youth are put on teams to use their new skills at a senior’s home. Parents are asked to sign waivers so youth can participate.

Skilled trades-people can volunteer to be teachers and mentors to the youth. We are recruiting professionals to teach painting, basic carpentry, landscaping, minor concrete work, and working with tools.
